BEN VENOM
SF-based and internationally recognized artist Ben Venom is the creator of our striking 30’ x 15’ custom stage curtain—a piece that fuses stained glass inspiration with traditional quilt patterns, crafted from salvaged fabric, denim, band T-shirts, and bandanas. His work transforms the bold iconography of rock and roll into intricately sewn textile art, celebrating both rebellion and craftsmanship.
A graduate of the San Francisco Art Institute (MFA, 2007), Ben’s work has been exhibited worldwide, including at the Levi Strauss Museum (Germany), MASS MoCA, and the de Young Museum. Featured by NPR, CBS Sunday Morning, and Juxtapoz, he has also lectured at institutions such as CCA, the Frist Center for the Visual Arts, and Adidas, and currently serves as Visiting Faculty at the San Francisco Art Institute.
“The reclaimed fabrics used in my work contain a multitude of personal histories and everyone’s unexplained stain, tear, or rip is included. These salvaged pieces are sewn into a larger narrative and become a part of a collective history within the work.”
