Ken Jarvela
Ken Jarvela is a Northern California painter, represented by Erickson Fine Art Gallery in Healdsburg. The Earth — and the sun’s light that falls upon it — is the enduring subject of his landscape paintings. For nearly fifty years, he has drawn inspiration from the Northern California countryside where he was born and raised, especially mountain peaks catching high alpine light, towering redwoods with richly fluted bark, and the dramatic coastline where land meets the Pacific. His work reflects a deep reverence for the ever-present curve of the Earth and the shifting atmosphere that defines each place.
A dedicated plein air painter, Jarvela hikes, backpacks, and travels to paint outside on site, from the Trinidad Coast to Yosemite and the Trinity Alps, before refining details in his studio. Originally trained in watercolor and now working primarily in acrylic, his style remains rooted in making landforms and seasons feel immediate and recognizable. He also builds his own canvases, stretcher bars, and frames by hand, often using old-growth reclaimed redwood, completing each piece from start to finish.
Little Saint is proud to feature seven of Ken Jarvela’s stunning works throughout the first-floor walls. Below is a selection of pieces with pricing information. For additional details or inquiries, please contact Erickson Fine Art Gallery.
