MONTHLY FEATURED WINERY: RAEN

As fourth-generation winemakers and farmers, Carlo and Dante Mondavi credit much of what they know to their grandfather Robert and father Tim, a pioneer of California Pinot Noir in the 1970s whose passion for Burgundy wines inspired their earliest love of Pinot. Carlo and Dante consider themselves “winegrowers” rather than winemakers. Since founding RAEN in 2013, they and their small team have focused on farming prized coastal sites with respect for nature, producing limited bottlings that express their site and stand alongside the world’s finest. In 2016, Carlo launched the Monarch Challenge to promote clean farming and biodiversity, with their Freestone Occidental vineyard serving as a wildlife release site and certified organic. Carlo is now a leading voice in sustainable farming and co-founder of Monarch Tractor, a solution born from the vision of the Monarch Challenge.

Who We Are

  • We believe in keeping things simple, smart, and human. Every project starts with listening and ends with something we're proud to share.

  • Integrity, creativity, and empathy shape the way we work. These aren't just words—they’re the foundation of everything we build.

  • What began as a passion project has evolved into something more. We’re proud of where we’ve been and even more excited for what’s ahead. What sets us apart isn’t just our process—it’s the intention behind it. We take time to understand, explore, and create with purpose at every turn.
