Kentucky musician and composer Ben Sollee has spent nearly two decades blurring musical boundaries. His latest album, Long Haul (2024), draws on Southern and global influences, weaving his signature cello and vocals through deeply personal and universal themes. The title track reflects Sollee’s two-year struggle with long-COVID and a renewed relationship with his body and creativity: “The most radical thing you can do is care for yourself,” he says.
Since his last album in 2017, Sollee paused touring to grow his family and deepen roots in Louisville. He’s since scored films (LAND, Maggie Morre[s]) and the Peabody-nominated podcast Unreformed. He also co-founded Canopy, a nonprofit supporting Kentucky businesses doing good for people and the planet.
